Unwind Designs Review:

This is one of our personal favourite products. Turn the heater on while you are driving and arrive at camp with hot water and a full battery. If you are conservative (not wasteful) we find that 2 of us can have a nice hot shower and wash dishes with warm water in one evening. If we just use the hot water for dishes we find that 2 days later the water is still luke warm.

We find we generally use the heater with 240v as it is much quicker to heat up. (Roughly 45min to 70degrees)
12v roughly 2.5 hours to 70 degrees

For those with smaller battery banks and for those who drive between camp spots every 1-2 days, consider purchasing the more compact 6L version.

On 240V you will have warm water within a few minutes
On 12V it will take approximately 15 minutes

      Heats well

Nice unit and fits well under the cafe lounge on our Coromal caravan. Heating water to the capacity of the unit is far more than normal requirements, dialling it back to 50°C or less will heat the water quicker and use less energy. Comments are from Day 1 after connecting to water and power, not after any real life off grid travel. Unit works well on 240v powered via a 2000W inverter, or by batteries at 13.2v. I’m being challenged by the auto switching and when I turn the unit off at the unit rocker switch, it is not switching to 12v feed. To switch back to 12v circuit, I need to turn off the unit at the GPO outlet. Even the instruction manual says to do this. This is not convenient as it’s tucked away and not easily accessible. I am hoping there is a work around that ensures it switches to 12v circuit when the 240v rocker switch on the unit is turned off and doesn’t rely on turning off the switch at the end of the power lead.
